Description

Cherry tomato - fresh off the vine!
--------------------------------------------
Taken with a Canon EOS Digital Rebel
50MM Canon Compact Macro lens with life size converter
f-16
10 Sec.
Ambient light from a window - I used my coffee table as a background.
-------------------------------------------
I adjusted the levels and touched up some with the healing brush.

**UPDATED** I updated this image and adjusted the levels again because after looking at it on another monitor I could see the lighter areas in the background which were not supposed to be so light. I've added a link to the adjusted - thanks for looking everyone! :)

Nice shot and colors!

Sharpness is good too!

Only wish that the flash or external light source would not show on the cherry tomatoe as it does per now.

I suggest you use the spot healing tool, and then fade it 70-80% to reduce the hotspot/glare. Also get rid of the non-black stuff on the left, just take a black brush and paint over it.

The simple composition and color scheme work well, and the use of textures is nice.

thanks!! I actually like the hot-spot, I think its kind of subtle... but that's just me, I could try to reduce it and maybe like it better I dunno, I think I like it because it accentuates the texture of the tomatoes skin! Now the non-black area, I guess I can't see it, I think my monitor may be calibrated a little darker than some... I know my monitor at the office is lighter so when I look at my photos there, they are a little too bright... I really don't know what to do about that :)

Thanks so much everyone for looking! :)

indeed would have been even better without the light on the tomato.

Very nice work Erin. Composition and colors are great, as is the level of detail. Personally, I like the hot spot: it adds to the sense of volume of the detail and is not overexposed... it works for me.;) Great job!

I like the little-bit soft light on the tomato, gives it a little touch of 3D. Nice shot!
